Michael Dean Johnson

Michael (Mike) Dean Johnson 63, died in his Ames home on Wednesday, May 1, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday June 19, at the Evergreen Memory Gardens, in Rural Nevada with Pastor David Burling officiating. Mike was born on April 19, 1950 to Harry L. and June M. (Gregory) Johnson in Carroll, Ia. He was an Army Veteran and the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars, the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and the Air Medal. After completing his military service, Mike was employed by the County Recorder's Office in San Diego Ca. for twelve years. He enjoyed being outdoors, taking leisurely drives, and fishing. Mike is survived by one daughter, Tammi Johnson of Webster City, IA; three brothers, Steve and Gary Johnson both of Story City, IA and John Wheatley of Ottumwa, IA; 2 sisters, Patti Jo Erhardt of Traer, IA and Bev Saldana of Story City, IA.
