Judy Ann Bruce

Judy Ann Bruce, the oldest of five children of Marion Marie (Boortz) and Glen Elroy Jopp, was born on January 24, 1955 in Brookings, South Dakota. In 1972, her family moved to live on a farm south of Malvern, Iowa. Judy graduated from Malvern Community High School in 1973. She attended college for two years. Judy and Alan Edwin Bruce were married on September 28, 1974 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. They made their home on a farm north of Malvern and their marriage was blessed with two sons, Joseph Alan and Jesse Lee. Judy was a stay-at-home mom for many years. She worked for 15 years at the ASCS office in Malvern. Judy became employed at the Glenwood Resource Center in Glenwood, Iowa, and worked for 15 years as a vocational aide until she retired on April 30, 2013. Judy enjoyed gardening, cooking, and made the "best" potato salad. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Judy was a loving wife, a dedicated mom to her sons, a wonderful sister and aunt, and a good friend to those who knew her. She attained the age of 58 years, 4 months, and 11 days and was preceded in death by her parents; brother Larry Jopp; and nephews, Ryan Jopp and David "Digger" Jopp. Judy is survived by her husband of 38 years, Alan Bruce of Malvern; sons, Joe Bruce of Glenwood, and Jesse Bruce of Malvern; brothers, David Jopp and wife Brigid of Papillion, NE, Ivan Jopp and wife Gretchen; sister Ann Chickering; and brother-in-law Elmer Bruce and wife Phyllis, all of Malvern; nephews and nieces, Robert Jopp, Justin, Andrew, and Eilis Jopp, and Brook and Kinley Chickering; extended relatives; and many friends. Memorials are directed to the family (Proceeds will go to St. John's Lutheran Church, Hastings or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.) Inurnment at East Liberty Cemetery, rural Malvern.
