Everett Stevens

Everett Eugene Stevens was born on April 17, 1925, in rural Jackson County to Jerry and Dora (Morton) Stevens. He received his education from Maple Grove School in Christiana Township, Jackson County, Minnesota. In 1944, at the age of 19, Everett moved on his own to a farm near Bingham Lake. On November 19, 1944, Everett was united in marriage to Lillian Ludvigson at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with seven children. In 1957, they moved to the Stroud farm where Everett and Lillian raised livestock and crops. They lived there until selling out in March of 1964. In March of 1965, they moved to a house in Windom. Everett worked at Toro for 28 years. Everett and Lillian set up over 300 auctions for Fritz Tasler & Pete Byam Auctioneering in Windom which they enjoyed very much with all of the friendships they made through the years. Lillian passed away on August 3, 2007. Everett continued living at his home until 2009 when he moved into Hillside Manor. of 88. Everett was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom where he had taught Sunday school, usher, and deacon. Then he became a member of Living Word Lutheran Church in Windom. He will be remembered for his love of anything John Deere and working on small engines, which he did for many people in the community. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family. Family was very important to Everett. Everett is survived by five children, Jerry Stevens and his wife, Carol, of Willmar; Ed Stevens and his wife, Leet, of St. James; Kevin Stevens and his wife, Lynel, of Windom; Tammy Axford and her husband, Mark, of Fosston; Mark Stevens and his wife, Deb, of Windom; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Robert Ludvigson of Windom; one sister-in-law, Veva Stevens of Minneapolis; and several nieces and nephews. Everett is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lillian; two sons, David and Gary Stevens; granddaughter, Lindsey Joy Stevens; seven siblings, Walter, Dorothy, Marie, Robert, Van, Lula, and Clara Mae.
