Denny Lee Thompson

Denny Lee Thompson was born on August 7, 1960 in Hardy, Iowa, the youngest son of Earl A. Thompson and Dorothy E. Thompson (Warland). Denny passed away on Friday, July 5, 2013 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City at the age of 52 years. Denny attended school in Humboldt, Iowa where he graduated in the class of 1979. After graduating Denny spent many years as a carpenter and roofer. Denny had a fierce passion for music and poetry. He enjoyed both reading and writing. His other hobbies included cooking, astrology and computer programing. Denny was the father of three children: Dennielle, Joseph and Dakota. He loved to take his children camping and swimming at the lake, when at home he enjoyed challenging them with video games. on and wife Kathy of St. Mary's, OH; Joyce Day and husband Larry of Fairmont, MN; Deborah Fridolfson and husband Fred of Humboldt, IA and Karen Balsley and husband Melvin of Forest City, IA and countless nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers: Jerry Thompson and Don Thompson; one niece: Brenda Metzger and nephew: Michael Thompson. Denny spent the last years of his life with his long-time best friend and caretaker Rocky Craig in Fort Dodge, Iowa. A memorial service will be Monday, July 8, 2013, at 1:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Iowa.
