cars. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the South Sioux City Eagles Club #2492. Darrel was an avid horseman, and spent many vacations with Mary at the horse races at Columbus, Grand Island and Hot Springs, Arkansas. Darrel was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a devout Catholic, family man and mentor. He was a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one. He will be greatly missed. Darrel is survived by his wife Mary; his daughter, Linda (Jim) Kellen; sons, Darrel "Larry" Engel, Terry (Donna) Engel and Mark (Janet) Engel; daughter in-law, Starla Engel; brother, Vernon (Lena) Engel; sisters, Delores Stark, Joyce (LeRoy) Novak, Marcella Henning, Laura (Marvin) Hansen, Helen Sessions, MaryAnn (Dick) McNear, and Yvonne (Marvin) Barge; grandchildren, Lori Kellen Selig and Jase Kellen, Laci, Chance, Kayla, Scott and Justin Engel, Travis Nobel, Colin and Christopher Engel; 15 great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Randy; brothers, Verle, Melvin and Warren Engel; sisters, Jean Van Cleave and Darlene Kelley. The family request in lieu of flowers, memorials be directed to the family for donations to be determined at a later date.
