Melvin N. Bryant

Melvin N. Bryant, 68, of Keokuk, IA died at 7:11 AM Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. He was born on May 8, 1945 in Keokuk, to William and Mary Ellen Mortimer Bryant. He married Barbara Votaw on October 10, 1987 in Keokuk. She survives. Melvin was a lifelong resident of the Keokuk area. He was a 1964 graduate of Keokuk High School. He worked as a pattern maker at Alliance Pattern, and part owner of H&B Pattern in Hamilton. He also owned Ottumwa Pattern & Mold. He had a shop at his home where he enjoyed woodworking. He loved attending his grandchildren's ballgames and activities. He was a member of Embury Methodist Church, and was a founding member and board member of Animal Protection League. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Robert (Sandy) Bryant of Donnellson, IA; two grandchildren, Tyler and TiAhnna Bryant of Donnellson, IA, and a step grandson, Nick Fedler of Iowa City, IA; brothers and sisters, Wanda (Ivan) Daubenberger, Larry (Connie) Bryant, Marilyn Spence, Lonnie (Sue) Bryant, Janice (William) Hayden and Kenny (Nita) Bryant, and numerous nieces and nephews. cy. A celebration of his life will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, August 3, 2013, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Centers at 917 Blondeau St. in Keokuk, with Reverend Peggy Ellingson officiating. Burial will follow at Buena Vista Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 2, after 2:00 PM with family meeting friends from 6-8 PM at 917 Blondeau St. Memorials may be made to Embury United Methodist Church or Animal Protection League of S.E. Iowa.
