Chase Winkey

Chase Alan Winkey, 29, of Denver, Colo., formerly of Ames, died in a diving accident on Makwa Lake BWCA on Aug. 7, 2013. A gathering of friends and family will be 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Oakwood Road Church, 2400 Oakwood Road, Ames, with a 3 p.m. Tuesday, funeral service. Chase was born June 20, 1984, in Waterloo and the son of Nick Winkey and Shelli (Campbell) Mullins. Chase brought smiles and laughs to every situation. Chase was a three-time all state soccer player at Ames High and a phenomenal defense back on Ames High Football Team graduating in 2002. He attended Grossmont College in San Diego and Iowa State University. He enjoyed studying human nature. Chase worked with Aramark in Denver.
