Jason Wilcox

MADISON - Jason Richard Wilcox died unexpectedly on October 4, 2013. Jason was born at the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in Belcourt, North Dakota on January 23, 1970. He was a Chippewa Indian, and at eight months of age he moved from Belcourt to Madison Wisconsin to join his new family. Jason attended Madison East High School and Madison Area Technical College where he was prepared for his career in cooking. As a youth, Jason enjoyed participating in cross country, playing hockey, hunting, and fishing. After graduation, he moved to Milwaukee to work as a cook and be closer to his father and brother. While in Milwaukee, Jason met and fell in love with his future wife Lynn Kunstman. Jason and Lynn got married in Madison on August 11, 2001. Jason and Lynn moved to Ashland Wisconsin to be close to her family which lived near the Bad River Indian Reservation just outside of Ashland. Jason and Lynn enjoyed the many events and recreation around Ashland for years. In 2011, Lynn passed away due to a auto accident in Ashland, and shortly afterward Jason moved back to Madison. pring Green. He loved cooking and talking about his dining creations. He always enjoyed sports and was a great fan of football and hockey. He was very proud of his Indian heritage and always loved learning more about the Chippewa Tribe History. Jason loved spending time with his family and friends talking about sports and movies. Jason is survived by his father Charles Wilcox, mother Judianne Melter, his stepfather Craig Melter, brother Damon Wilcox, sister-in-law Mary Kay Wilcox, aunt and uncle Kim and Dale Walesheck, and many other family members. Jason was very loved by his family and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Middleton Outreach Ministry of which Jason was very fond.
