Eugene L. Nichols

Eugene L. Nichols, age 80, of Spirit Lake, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at his home in Spirit Lake. He was born on April 25, 1933, in Emmetsburg, Iowa, to Albert and Loretta Nichols. Eugene graduated from Terril High School in 1952, and attended the University of Iowa. He served his country in the United States Navy from 1952, until 1956. Eugene was united in marriage to Marian Swart on April 27, 1955, in Nashua, Iowa. Eugene worked for McQuay's in Spirit Lake for over twenty years. He enjoyed spending his spare time fishing, boating and looking at the lake. Eugene was a member of the V.F.W. and the United Methodist Church in Spirit Lake. Eugene is survived by his wife, Marian Nichols of Spirit Lake; daughter, Debra Edwards, and her husband, Terry of Berea, Ohio; twin sons, Jeff Nichols, and his wife, Shari of Spirit Lake, and Jess Nichols, and his wife, Marlys of Spirit Lake; a sister, Deloures Guard of Sacramento, California; six grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
