James "Jim" Dunse

James "Jim" Dunse was born on September 13, 1948, in Heron Lake, Minnesota to the late Edgar "Bud" and Marcella "Sally" (Neitzel) Dunse. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in rural Lakefield. Jim received his early education at St. Peter's Lutheran School and graduated from Lakefield High School in the Class of 1966. He then attended Worthington Community College and the University of Minnesota. Jim enlisted in the United States Army Reserves in 1970 where he served until 1990. On December 21, 1969, Jim was united in marriage to Donna Pavelko at the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield. This marriage was blessed with two children, Shannon and Mike. Through the years, Jim farmed and then worked for the FDIC before working at the State Bank of Jeffers where he was currently the Vice-President. God was always first in Jim's life and doing the right and correct things was a priority to him. Jim's best accomplishment was raising his two children with Donna. s diagnosed with a rare form of cancer and fought the disease courageously until passing away on Wednesday morning, October 30, 2013, with his family at his bedside, at the age of 65 years. Jim was a longtime member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom where he was an elder, an usher and worked on the finance council. He also was involved in his community as a member of the Minnesota Deer Hunter's Association where he was president for seven years, a member of the Arena Booster Club, 4- H Leader, and the American Legion Post 206. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Dunse of Windom; two children, Shannon (Mike) Lenz of Cottonwood, MN; Micheal (Stacey) Dunse of Webster, SD; six grandchildren, Andrew Lenz, Ty Dunse, Emily Lenz, Alex Lenz, Tayne Dunse and Trey Dunse; brothers and sisters, Susan Clymer of Alpha, MN; Sandra (Joe) Bartosh of Aldridge, IA; Ruth (Glen) Dicks of Lakefield; Donna (Randy) Hendrickson of Lakefield; Chuck (Peggy) Dunse of Windom; and many nieces and nephews.
