Charles F. Norton

Charles F. Norton, 87, of Burlington, died 5:29 p.m. Saturday, November 9, 2013, in his home. Born on January 22, 1926 in West Chester, IA, he was the son of Charles Franklin and Gertrude Iva (Buck) Norton. He married Mary J. Burtlow on November 9, 1943 in Kahoka, MO. She died April 16, 2000. Mr. Norton was a farmer in his early years. He then worked for Midwest Biscuit for 10 years and then Aldi Bakery retiring after 22 years. He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, loved his animals, talking on the CB, playing on his computer and watching westerns. He never knew a stranger. Survivors include three daughters, Rachel (Ray) Allen of Hannibal, MO, Mary Ellen McMillan of Burlington and Kathryn Hoskins of Hannibal, MO; daughter-in-law, Jenellie Norton of Kingston; fourteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Clarence Norton of Burlington and Melvin Norton of Salt Lake City, UT; two sisters; Opal Beenblossom of Washington, IA and Pearl Moser of Burlington; several nieces and nephews. ughter Dana, three brothers and one sister. The funeral service for Mr. Norton will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 16th, at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Wally Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Loper Cemetery, rural Sperry. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service. A memorial has been established.
