Raymond Eugene Corethers

Raymond Eugene Corethers, 75, of Keokuk, Iowa, died November 9th, 2013, at Great River Medical Center in Burlington, Iowa. Raymond was born March 4, 1938, to John and Mary Hennrietta Mitchell Corethers in Monroe City, Missouri. He was married to Claudia Jean Arthur, whom he later divorced. Raymond was a past member of Keokuk Jaycees. He enjoyed sci-fi movies, shopping, and especially the country music TV station, RFD. His collections included watches, cigarette lighters and knives. Playing with the family pet Rascal and going for long car rides were also pastimes he enjoyed. He was employed by Keokuk Gas Co. and later by Catfish Bend Casino. Raymond loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and most importantly treasured moments with his family. He never knew a stranger. Raymond will always and forever be missed in his family's hearts. on, Illinois; his son Mark Ragar and his wife Pam of Keokuk, Iowa, and Mark's children: Ashleigh Ragar and her boyfriend Matt Turpen of Springfield, Illinois, Melinda Ragar of Coralville, Iowa, and Jake Ragar of Keokuk, Iowa; his daughter Tracy (Ragar) Bourgeois and her husband Brent of Wyaconda, Missouri, and Tracy's children: Ryan Bourgeois and his fiancé Jennifer Worster of Keokuk, Iowa and LaTisha Bourgeois and her fiancé Jared Heule of Wayland, Missouri; and his deceased son's children, Josh Lanning of Peoria, Illinois, and Dylan Corethers of Clinton, Illinois; and his sister Bonnie Mitchell of Pella, Iowa. Raymond is also survived by his great-grandchildren Nolan, Annalee and Brayson Ragar, a future great grandchild, Noah Walton, and several nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Eddie Corethers; his brothers, Charles and John; and two sisters, Charlotte and Edna; and infant brothers, Robert and David. A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the New Bethel Church with Pastor Debra Letcher officiating. A meal will be served directly following the service.
