Howard Lee Van Wyk first born of Joe and Alta Van Wyk was born on August 12, 1933, and entered into rest at Iowa Methodist Hospital on November 18, 2013 at the age of 80. On June 16, 1957 he was united in marriage to Joyce E McAllister in Fort Benning, Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday November 22, 2013 at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. with family present from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday November 21, 2013, at the Prairie City United Methodist Church. Please join Howard in wearing Iowa Hawkeye attire at his visitation. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date. Left to cherish Howard's memory is his wife of 56 years Joyce Elaine Van Wyk; his children Melissa Kain of Prairie City, Renita (Christopher) Veverka of Prairie City, Deanna (Noel) Brown of Prairie City; Grandchildren; Amber (Jonathan) Scearcy, Kinze Veverka, Jordan Kain, Kylee Veverka, Austin Brown, Derek Brown and Matthew (Kelly) Cockerton; great-grandchildren Lincoln Scearcy, Anora Scearcy and Lenee Kain and his pride and joy dog Lily.
