Mr. Herman Marion Maass, 75, of West Burlington died Monday, November 25, 2013, with his son by his side.
Born October 28, 1938 in Prairie Grove, he was the son of Herman and Marguerite Swartz Maass. He married and later divorced.
Mr. Maass was an Army veteran serving for eight years during Vietnam. He was a salesman for Drake Hardware and Wyeth Company of St. Joseph, Missouri.
Mr. Maass was of the Christian faith and enjoyed camping, mushrooming, fishing, and watching any western movie. He enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Tanner, his family, and going to the VFW to spend time with his veteran friends.
Survivors include one son, Gregory Maass of West Burlington; one daughter, Shelly Stout of Burlington; one grandson, Tanner John; sister-in-law, Loretta Maass; nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and three brothers, one in infancy.
Friends may call from noon until 6 p.m. Monday, December 2nd, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 6 p.m. The Rev. Larry Dodds will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in Prairie G...[more]

According to Mr. Maass' wishes, cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following his funeral service.
