David Jon Blanshan

David Jon Blanshan was born on December 26, 1942, in Windom, Minnesota to Roy and Opal (Kramer) Blanshan Pigman. He was raised by his step-father, Leo Pigman after his father's death. He was baptized and later confirmed at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He attended Windom Public Schools. After high school, David enlisted in the United States Army where he served at Fort Eustis in Virginia from 1964 to 1966. David was united in marriage to Jean Voelker on February 20, 1979, at the Little Brown Church in Naushua, Iowa. After their marriage, David and Jean lived in Windom where they owned and operated Blanshan's Septic Tank Service until selling the business in 2004. Recently David's health began to decline and he passed away on Friday morning, December 13, 2013 at the Windom Area Hospital at the age of 70. David was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom and the Oddfellows of Windom. He will be remembered for his love of trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and trapping. Most of all he loved spending time with his many friends he made throughout his journey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Blanshan, Opal Blanshan Pigman and Leo Pigman and two aunts that helped raise him, Pearl Hanson and Joyce Buck.
