Mr. Billy Lee Lunsford, 80, of West Burlington, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died at 6:14 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2013, at Great River Medical Center. Born August 31, 1933 in Troy, IA, he was the son of Frank and Daisy Lucille Kinny Lunsford. He graduated from Pulaski High School and then served in the Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1953 as E-7 SGT. He served for 17 years in the National Guard in Mt. Pleasant. On September 6, 1984 he married Ruth Boecker in Pleasant Grove and she preceded him in death on January 30, 1994. Mr. Lunsford was a truck Driver for Mason - Hanger for many years. He was of the Baptist faith and a life member of the VFW, Eagles, Moose, American Legion, and Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Survivors include three sons, Billy Brian Lunsford and Terry Lee Lunsford of Mt. Pleasant and Martin J. Lunsford of Ottawa, KS; ten grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Crutchfield of Decatur, IL; half-brother, Benny Ayers of Decatur, IL; half-sister, JoAnn Snow of Centerville, IL and nieces and nephews. eceive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday, December 26th, at Lunning Chapel. The funeral service for Mr. Lunsford will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 27th, at Lunning Chapel, with the Pastor Gary Karas officiating. The Burlington Area Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites. Inurnment will be at a later date in Old Stone Cemetery, rural Sperry. A memorial has been established for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Cremation has been entrusted to Lunning Chapel and will be accorded following the funeral service.
