Michael Steven Grzeslo

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 28th at the United Methodist Church in Graettinger. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Joyce-Alesch Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Michael Steven Grzeslo was born October 4, 1956, in Chicago, IL, the son of Eugene and Delores (Wychelewski) Grzeslo. He grew up in Chicago and attended Thomas Kelley High School. Mike always excelled in everything he did. At the age of 16, he scored the highest mechanical aptitude test out of Thomas Kelley High School history. When he was 18, Mike was already a certified scuba diver instructor, a private pilot and owner of his own construction company. He met the love of his life, Linda Hahn when he was 21 years old, and on August 26, 1979, they were united in marriage. Mike's life-long dream was to have a large family, and the couple was blessed with seven children. The family moved to Iowa, and Mike attended Iowa Lakes Community College to become a commercial pilot and flight instructor. He made the Dean's List, and flew for Great Lakes Aviation for many years. aviation management until 2002 when they moved to Sibley, IA where Mike worked as quality assurance manager for Exopack and later The Conveyor Company. In 2011, Mike and Linda decided to move to Ringsted, IA where he retired to be closer to his family. Mike could fix anything - whether it was plumbing, heating, appliances, cars or electronics. If it was broken, he could fix it. He enjoyed flying, working on his cars and home, and he loved spending time with his pups, Jazzy and Tinx. Most of all, Mike treasured his family. On January 23, 2014, Mike passed away at his home in Ringsted. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda of Ringsted; seven children: Jaime Petersen (Clint) of Graettinger, Angie Jorgensen (Josh) of Emmetsburg, Michael Grzeslo (Kim) of Cleghorn, IA, Melissa Will (Sam) of Emmetsburg, Samantha Grzeslo of Sioux Falls, SD, Courtney Grzeslo (Luke Jorgensen) of Emmetsburg, Cody Grzeslo (Morgan Schubert) of Ringsted; four siblings: Denise Cavallino of Algoma, WI, Tony Grzeslo (Debbie) of Overland Park, IL, Daniel Grzeslo of Green Bay, WI and Lia Middlestat (Orin) of Randolf, WI; 14 grandchildren and Jazzy. Mike was preceded by his parents; sister, Cynthia Warzynski and Tinx.
