Robert Lee Thiele

Robert Lee Thiele, 81 of Fort Dodge passed Friday, January 24, 2014. He was in care at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in Des Moines for stroke and complications. Robert was born November 16, 1932 to Helen and Clarence Thiele of Waterloo, Iowa. Mr. Thiele graduated from East Waterloo High School where he excelled in basketball and football. After High School, Robert served in our Nation's Military and was deployed to the front lines during the Korean conflict. He married Ann Thiele on February 10, 1953 in Waterloo. Robert Thiele was employed by Walker Shoe Company, in Waterloo and later moved to Fort Dodge where he was manager of Gate's shoe department. Soon after, he became owner and proprietor of Welch Shoe Store. Robert was not only a businessman, but was a great lover of the outdoors and animals. Mr. Thiele is survived by his wife, Ann, of Fort Dodge, and four children; Victoria (Perry) Thiele-Gambino, of New York, Kevin Thiele of Grimes, Kelly Thiele of Fort Dodge, and Kathy (Dave) McCaulley of Nevada, IA. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 30, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel.
