Michael Layne Halstead
Michael L. Halstead, 59, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at West Side Church of Christ in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services are in charge of the arrangements. Michael Layne Halstead, the son of Donald and Bobbie Jean (Winkler) Halstead, was born November 4, 1954 in Anniston, Alabama. The family moved to Brookings, SD and Michael graduated high school there in 1973. He went to York College and later Oklahoma Christian College. He also graduated from Preston Road School of Preaching in Dallas, TX. On August 30, 1975, Michael was united in marriage to Terri Marsh. Michael served as a minister for 36 years, currently serving as a minister at West Side Church of Christ in Fort Dodge. He was also employed for the last 17 years with the Fort Dodge Public High School working with the School to Work program. Michael was preceded in death by his father Donald, his mother-in-law Joan Brown, sister-in-law Tammie Sears, and his brother-in-law Kimball Matkins.
