MADISON- David C. Haertel passed away on Jan. 31, 2014 with family by his side. He was born on November 28, 1944 to Ernest and Jean Haertel in Juneau, Wis. He attended UW-Whitewater, studying business. David served his country as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps. He worked for 28 years at West Bend Mutual in Madison as a regional sales manager.
When his daughters were growing up he was always involved in their sports including softball, swimming and tried to teach his daughters how to fish. David throughout this life always enjoyed cards, gardening, puzzles, traveling with family, golf, bowling and road trips with his buddies. His mission for 17 holiday seasons was to ring the Salvation Army bell and display his unique holiday spirit.
David was preceeded in death by his parents.
David is survived by his wife, Gloria nee Niemi; Daughters, Stacy, Sara, Jamie (Joseph) Knorn and Kim (Dan) Foor; 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; his sister, Lynn and brothers, Richard (Charlene) and James and other family members.
