CAROLYN BLOOM MUSCATINE, Iowa - Carolyn L. Bloom, 90, of Muscatine, died on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at Lutheran Homes. Funeral Service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Dr. Bruce Ursin of Wesley United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church. Carolyn was born on May 28, 1923, in Muscatine, the daughter of Wesley and Lenora Jagow Ruthenberg. She married Glen Alfred Bloom on March 13, 1945, in Muscatine. He preceded her in death on May 30, 2002. She was a graduate of Muscatine High School and also from the University of Iowa in 1945 as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and also served on many church committees and was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Women. was a former of T.T.T., Chapter M. She also did volunteer work. She led a very active life and enjoyed golfing, playing bridge with friends, gardening, and traveling with her husband. Those left to honor her memory include one daughter, Louise (Raymond) Bloom of Muscatine; and one granddaughter, Danielle Abdallah. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
