Marie "Mary" W. Bogle was born on July 23, 1920, to the late Peter John and Josephine Walburga (List) Hittesdorf in Leavenworth, Minnesota. She received her education at the St. Mary's Catholic School in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. She then continued her education at Mankato State and specialized as an adult literacy tutor. In 1951, Mary was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Windom, and became a member of that church. After finishing her education, Mary taught in country school before marriage. On June 12, 1940, she was united in marriage to John Bogle, Jr in Sleepy Eye. For thirty-eight years, Mary worked at the Cottonwood County DAC and won many awards for her work with disabled individuals. She also became a certified tutor and worked with the literacy council. She also testified before the state legislature for PKU testing of babies. Mary introduced child evangelism to Windom and directed it for nineteen years along with cooking at Shetek Bible Camp for twenty summers. In 1983, John passed away in Windom. Mary was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Windom where she was a church hostess, deaconess, Sunday school teacher and a junior youth group leader. She also was a member of ARC and AARP where she held various offices. Mary is survived by her children, John "Pete" (Dorothy) Bogle of Dayton; Mary (Bob) Duncan of Windom; Nancy Duncan of Windom; Ruth Ritter of Ashland, WI; Mike (Celeste) Bogle of Windom; Janet (Bruce) Boldt of Windom; Scotty (Ly) Bogle of St. James; Kathy Bogle of Willmar; Hope (Rick) Reichert of Robbinsdale; Jim (April) Bogle of Sauk Rapids; foster son, Doug Winter of Lake Crystal; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert "Bob" Hittesdorf; one sister, Theresa Boyer of Seal Beach, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Bogle, Jr.; son, Robert Bogle; son-in-law, Jim Duncan; son-in-law, Tom Ritter; one brother, Magnus (Ruby) Hittesdorf; and great-grandson, Austin Boerboom.
