Brian L. Faidley, age 63 of Colfax, passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at the VA Central Iowa Healthcare System in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Howard Street Christian Church. Burial will be at the Ashton Chapel Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2014, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Coburn Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com. The son of Myron L. and Pauline Joy (Weiser) Faidley, Brian was born on January 25, 1951, in Des Moines. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1969 and went on to Iowa State University, where he received his degree in Urban Planning in 1972. During his time at ISU he was also involved with the ROTC. Brian proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam. He worked at Maytag for 23 years. On January 3, 1997, he was united in marriage to Linda Maxwell in Newton. at football games for 23 years. He was also a frequent blood donor, marched and participated in many local military events, and watching John Wayne in westerns. His greatest joy however, came from his family and grandchildren. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; two children, Jason (Lori) Faidley of Newton and Jenny Huff of Maxwell; three step children, Melanie (Kirk) Pleggenkuhle of Mingo, Shauna (Josh) Carlson of Monroe, and Nicole Goaley of St. Paul, Minnesota; eight grandchildren a sister, Marsha (David) Hegland of McCallsburg, a brother, Bruce (Diana) Faidley of Colfax; his mother-in-law, Caroline Maxwell of Mingo and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, grandparents, his father-in-law, Ralph and sister-in-law, Carla Maxwell.
