Robert A. Phelps

Robert A. Phelps, 77, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Fort Dodge Health and Rehabilitation Center. A service honoring Robert's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 11, at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Austin Hill officiating. The family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Robert is survived by his wife Joyce; children, Scott (Jackie) Phelps, Holstein; Brenda Holloway, Goodyear, Ariz.; Kris Rasmussen, Webster City; Kimberly (Matt) Leeds, Stratford; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; his sister Marilyn Redmond, Phoenix, Ariz.; his brother Lynn Phelps, Glendale, Ariz.; his aunt Marjorie Shaw, Cedar Falls and many nieces, nephews and cousins and he was especially close to Linda and Susan Shaw. He was preceded in death by his parents. Robert A. Phelps, the son of Percy and Helen (Shaw) Phelps, was born November 2, 1936, in Charles City, Iowa. e later divorced. On June 2, 1967, Robert was united in marriage to Joyce Sleiter at 5th Avenue Baptist Church in Humboldt. Robert enjoyed spending time working in his garage and on his yard and truly treasured time spent with his family.
