Harmon, Nancy, 82, of Ft. Lauderdale, passed away on March 8, 2014 at Broward Health Medical Center. Nancy was born on November 12, 1931 to Mario and Maria (Valenti) Fernandes in Newark, N.J. She moved to Florida 31 years ago. Nancy was a Medical Secretary and worked in many hospitals in New Jersey and South Florida and had studied for her RN license. She traveled all over the United States, Europe, Egypt and Jerusalem. She donated to many charities like the Salvation Army and Veterans of Vietnam War. She was an animal lover, a good kind hearted person who loved to help the less fortunate. Nancy is survived by her sons, John (Shirley) Hughes III, Michael Hughes, Richard Hughes and Robert Hughes; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Maria Forgione, Julie Toner and Lucy Alicknavitch; brother, Hildo Fernandes. Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Allen W. Harmon, her parents and her sister Lily Ealsamo.[more]
