Mary Ellen Krebs, 77, of DeWitt, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at WestWing Place in DeWitt, Iowa. Friends and family may gather in remembrance of Mary on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, from 3:30 to 5:30 P.M. in "The Bistro" at the Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa. Cremation has taken place. Mary Ellen Krebs was born on November 22, 1936 in Iowa City, Iowa. Her parents were Charles and Margaret (Thiede) Krebs. Mary was disabled and had lived in several care facilities the last of which was Community Care in DeWitt, Iowa since 2001. She had worked at the Sheltered Workshop at Community Care until her retirement, and had attended the Evangelical Free Church in DeWitt. Mary enjoyed a variety of activities and hobbies. She had participated in the Special Olympics and has numerous blue ribbons and a first place trophy in bowling. She had attended Camp Courageous and had been a part of the Truth Singers and PEP activities. She enjoyed eating out, cake, coffee, having her fingernails and toenails painted and watching television. One of her favorite activities was to go "downtown."
