to have played flute and piccolo in the Karl King band in Fort Dodge. He played music all his life - often playing in small groups and at weddings and funerals. John moved to Hollywood during the 1950's where he worked for the Saint Anthony Messenger in sales. He briefly worked for a Franciscan Monastery in California doing clerical work. John was a freelance writer and he published several articles dealing with the history of the Kautzky family. Several articles were printed in Guns and Ammo. He was especially proud of the family accomplishments - not only for the store on Main Street "where Sportsmen meet sportsmen" but because of the successful marketing of the lazy Ike fishing lure. Family notoriety in trap and skeet shooting was also memorable. In addition, John contributed generously to many charities around the world. John moved to Mesa, Arizona to be near his cousins and their families during his later life. Due to failing health he moved into Citrus Villa, a small care facility near his cousins. His Catholic faith was at the center of his life, attending daily mass for 50 years.
