Margaret Elizabeth Shears
Margaret Elizabeth Shears, resident at the Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Center, formerly of Franklin, Ohio died Wednesday April 23, 2014. Margaret was born November 12, 1915 in Kelwood Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Alexander and Fannie Young. The family, consisting of three other children, moved to Boston when Margaret was eight. In 1941, she married Clarence Shears and moved to Moraine. Margaret retired from Monsanto's "Mound" facility in Miamisburg in 1978. Possessing an avid interest in crafts, Margaret loved to quilt, make ceramic figurines, knit and crochet. Hundreds of babies born at both Atrium and Kettering Hospital's went home with donated hats by Margaret. An active member of the Deardoff Senior Center in Franklin for many years, Margaret enjoyed afternoons socializing and playing bridge. Margaret was preceded in death by her father, Alexander Stewart Young, mother, Fannie Gertrude Young, husband Clarence, 2 brothers, Stewart and George Young, and a sister Lillian Williams. ons, Paul (Ann) Chestovich of Las Vegas and Erik Shears (Jennifer) of New Carlisle and great-granddaughter, Lily Chestovich. Funeral services are 11:00 am Saturday April 26, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Homes, 1357 East Second Street, Franklin, Ohio with Celebrant Dan Flory officiating. Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the funeral home.
