State College to receive a degree in Agricultural Engineering. For three years Lloyd worked as an agronomist for the Webster County Soil Conservation Services and as a construction engineer with the Iowa Highway Commission. In 1950, he and Ruth established their home on the family farm south of Burnside, which is now a Century Farm. Lloyd retired from active farming in 1987 and he and Ruth moved to Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge in 2006. Lloyd was a member of the Burnside Baptist Church and later the First Baptist Church in Fort Dodge. He was a long-time member of the Masonic Lodge and Order of the Eastern Star. He and Ruth traveled extensively both nationally and internationally. Lloyd was a true life-long learner including taking Graduate level courses in Agricultural Economics at Iowa State University. In his retirement, he was well known for sharing the produce from their large garden. Lloyd is survived by his wife of nearly 69 years, Ruth; his daughter Sharon (Paul) Bartlett of Orange City, IA; granddaughter Addison (Daniel Cordova) Bartlett of Camanche, IA and granddaughter Anna Bartlett of Orange City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ronald and Robert Schwendemann and daughter Jennifer Jeanine (Schwendemann) Gibson.
