ERNEST NICHOLS MUSCATINE, Iowa - Ernest C. Nichols, 69, of Muscatine, died on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at his home. He spent most of his life in Muscatine and California and had been in Muscatine the past six weeks. There will be no visitation or service. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Ernest was born on September 3, 1944, the son of Virgil and May Kulk Nichols He first married Mary Ramirez on September 4, 1965, in Aledo, Illinois; they divorced in 1971. He later married Crystal Lewis on April 27, 1987. He was a veteran of the US Army. He was a carpenter working free-lance. He enjoyed working with his hands and helping to build homes for his family. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Crystal Nichols of Jefferson City, Missouri; five children, Connie Reid and her four children and four grandchildren of Letts, Bobby Nichols and his five children and two grandchildren of Muscatine, Carla Byrd and husband Mark, and their two children and one grandchild of Muscatine, Keith Nichols and his four children of Muscatine, and Tashina Tremmell and husband, Jeremy, and their three children, of Missouri; four...[more]
