Sharon Kay Brooks

Sharon Kay Brooks, 70, of Keokuk, Iowa, died Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, Iowa. She was born on September 29, 1943, in Monmouth, Illinois, the daughter of Leroy and Blanche Parsons Holmes. Sharon was married to James Brooks, Sr., in Keokuk, Iowa, on July 3, 1980. He preceded her in death in 1995. Sharon was a lifelong resident of Keokuk and worked in production at Methode. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and bowling, and she especially loved her dog, Daisy. She also liked sports, especially the Cubs and Raiders. Sharon is survived by her mother Blanche Holmes of Keokuk, her sons Marty (Linda) Holmes of Keokuk and David Houston of Texas, her daughters Paula Murphy and Missy (Lennie) Francis of Keokuk, and her grandchildren: Jason McKinley, Josh Sackman, Jeremy Sackman, Miranda Francis, Josh Francis, Jeremy Boyle, Brandi Murphy, Brittany Murphy-Jones, McKenzie Sprague, Brooke Murphy, Denise Holmes, Shawn Holmes and Nicholas Houston. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at 11 am, Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street, with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be held Friday, May 16, 2014, from 3 to 8 pm, with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 pm.
