Eileen Bratland Bennett

Eileen went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, May 28, 2014. A memorial services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge with Rev. John Sersland officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 10:30 Saturday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. The Gunderson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy Eileen Ackley was born on October 6, 1924 in Fort Dodge to George and Marylou Lena Ackley. Eileen was the youngest of their 10 children. Eileen attended Fort Dodge schools graduating from Fort Dodge High School in 1942. Eileen was united in marriage to Ernest Bratland in 1951. They made their home in Fort Dodge, they are the parents of six sons and one daughter. Eileen worked for Tony's Restaurant, the Treloars Inn and Younkers in Fort Dodge. In 1984, Eileen and Ernie moved to Oregon. They were managers and later marketers for Holiday Retirement Corporation until Eileen's beloved Ernie lost his battle with cancer in 1991. Eileen moved back to Iowa in 1997. In 2010, she made her home at the Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge. Eileen is preceded in death by the love of her life Ernie Bratland, son Jerry, grandson Christopher, infant son Johnny Alan, parents George and Marylou Lena, siblings Raymond, Roy, Jesse, Robert, Pauline, Ruth Daniels, Vera Garrett, Irma Chestling and Alta Julius.
