Daniel Ray Carlton

Daniel Ray Carlton, 61, of Keokuk, died at 12:00 noon, Saturday, June 7, 2014, at his home. Dan was born November 5, 1952, a son of Tressler and Shirley Potter Carlton. He graduated from Keokuk High School and attended two years of college. He worked in production at Keokuk Steel Castings for 20 years. Daniel and Kathy Jean Yarrington were married March 12, 1977, in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives. He enjoyed time with his family and raising Chowchow dogs. He also enjoyed the Broncos football team, traveling, fishing, billiards, and playing card games. In addition to his wife, Kathy Jean, he is survived by four children, Tamara Lorigan of Keokuk, Kevin (Cathy Bell) Lorigan of Branson, Missouri, Nicole (Todd) Mason of Table Grove, Illinois, and Jess (Adrian) Carlton of Hamilton, Illinois; Grandchildren, Marcus Lorigan, Shelby Lorigan, Lauryn Anderson, Tatum Boutwell, Tyler Mason, Mayzee Carlton, Blaine Creasy, Gage Creasy, and Katelynn Lorigan; and great granddaughter, Aliya Lorigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Ron, Steve, Tommy, and Raymond; one sister, Faith Shotts; great granddaughter Jillian Lorigan; and longtime friend, Floyd "Tugg" Hamelton. A Celebration of his Life will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau Street with Pastor Robert Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau with family greeting friends from 6:00 to 8:00. Memorials are suggested to Lee County Hospice or to a fund to be decided.
