Daniel W. Hoover

Daniel (Dan) W. "Hoov" Hoover, 47, of Fort Dodge, died June 20, 2014. A service honoring Dan's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 27, at Corpus Christi Church with Monsignor Kevin McCoy officiating. Interment will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. The visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Dan is survived by his wife Norma Evans Hoover; his parents, Mervin and Mary Hoover, Fort Dodge; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister Laurie Marie Hoover; his brother David Hoover; his grandparents, Albert and Mary Husske and Verl and Mabel Hoover; and his father-in-law Roy Evans. Daniel Wayne Hoover, the son of Mervin and Mary (Husske) Hoover, was born November 22, 1966, in Fort Dodge. He attended St. Edmond schools, Fort Dodge Senior High and Iowa Central Community College. He was the manager of the mechanic shop at Western Auto, worked for Illinois-Central Railroad, Midwest Fence & Gate and then as a mechanic at Lambi Auto in Webster City. in Ankeny. Most recently he was employed with Herc-U-Lift in Ankeny. Dan was truly gifted in auto body repair and, known as Mr. Fixit, could fix any broken item placed in front of him. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed spending time at 'The Pond' which he helped to develop and maintain. Dan especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed.
