C. "Corinne" Johnston, 86, of Fort Dodge, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014 at Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday July 11, 2014 in the chapel of Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church with Rev. Dan Rupp officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be in Corpus Christi Cemetery. A visitation will be Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with a Vigil beginning at 7:00 p.m. Survivors include her daughters, Samantha (Jim) Murphy of Des Moines; Susan (Larry) Brotherson of Highland Ranch, CO; and Mary (Dave) McKay of Urbandale; sons, Dan (Cindy) Johnston of Marble Falls, TX and John (Cyndi) Johnston of Olatha, KS; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Leonard Carr of Ocala, FL; and sister, Vera Hoppe of Winter Haven, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Genevieve (Madden) Carr; husband, V. Gordon Johnston; brother, Cyril Carr; and sisters, Cleo Hana, Rita Coyne, Loretta Devault, and Elizabeth Keneley. Cecelia "Corinne" Carr was born December 17, 1927 in Anthon, IA. m Anthon High School in 1945. Corinne attended West Mar College in LeMars and received her teaching certificate. She moved back to Anthon and taught school there for two years. Corinne was united in marriage to V. Gordon Johnston on January 12, 1948. The couple established their home in Fort Dodge and Gordon was the Plant Manager for Johnston Clay Works. In 1963, they relocated their home to Storm Lake. Corinne worked at JC Penney for a number of years while residing there as well as being an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Storm Lake Country Club. Gordon passed away in 1998, and Corinne moved back to Fort Dodge in October of 2004 and became a member of Sacred Heart Church. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
