Iowa. The day before Norm's 18th birthday he enlisted into the United States Navy. Norman had enough credits to graduate early from Fort Dodge Senior High, but was unable to be at his graduation ceremony. Norm served on the aircraft carrier the USS Philippine Sea during WW II and the Korean War. On December 24, 1952, Norman married Nancy Kjeer in Fort Dodge and received his honorable discharge from the Navy in July of 1954. Norm worked several years for the Horn Brothers Co. in Fort Dodge and then on September 12, 1955, he started working for the National Gypsum Company as their storekeeper. He later became the plant buyer for National Gypsum retiring on March 1, 1989. Norman enjoyed wood working and especially working with his son on those special wood working projects. In November of 2012, Norman and his wife moved to the Good Samaritan Center in in Manson. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
