James P. Calmer, 80, of Fort Dodge passed away on Friday July 25, 2014 at the Marian Home. James will be cremated and there will be no service held at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
James was born in Manson, IA on September 27, 1933 to John and Eva (Thomas) Calmer. He grew up in Manson and graduated from Manson High School. He was united in marriage to Marcia Stine on August 12, 1985 at Elk Point, SD and they made their home in Fort Dodge. James worked for MidAmerican Energy for 39 ½ years until retirement. He loved playing golf and spending time outdoors.
James is survived by his wife Marcia; children Paula (Cindy) Calmer, Lori (Phil) Holder, Erin (Mark) Partlow, Scott (Joyce) Calmer and Heather (Gary) Eddington; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and his sister Ella Birkey of Manson, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Eva and his brother Peter J. Calmer.
