LeRoy E. Guymon, 99, of Keokuk, Iowa, died at 11:02 AM Saturday, August 2, 2014, at his home. LeRoy was born December 1, 1914, in Alexandria, Missouri, son of Jesse and Maggie Graf Guymon. He and Frances Anderson were married December 1, 1937, in Keokuk. He served in the United States Army Infantry during World War II and attained the rank of Staff Sargent. He was a member of United Presbyterian Church, the American Legion, and Operating Engineers Local at Foote Mineral. He loved gardening and was 100% a city farmer. He was a storyteller and loved telling about when he lived in Wasaw, time spent in the CCC, and working at Electro Metals. His mind was sharp up until the time of his death. LeRoy is survived by a son, Russell (Donna) Guymon of Kimberling, Missouri; two daughters, JoAnn (James) Rife of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Esther (Kenny) Harding of Hamilton, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Kim (Chris) Heintz of Quincy, Illinois, Jeff (Kristi) Guymon of Savannah, Georgia, Rusty (Danielle) Guymon of Keokuk, Melissa Hummel of Quincy, Stephanie (David) Jacobsmeier of Keokuk, K.C. Also surviving are twelve great grandchildren, Leah (Dustin) Drebenstedt, Katie and Mikayla Heintz, Alison and Bryce Hummel, Alyssa Harding, Landon Patrick, Emma Mecum, Mackenzie Rife, and Paige, Colton, and Connor Guymon; his first great great grandson due in December; a brother, Wilbur Guymon of Wichita, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Frances on February 20, 2008; grandson K. Charles Harding, great granddaughter Catherine Elizabeth Heintz; brother Ernest Guymon, and four sisters, Helen Hutson, Mary Winsell, Bertha Cooper, and Margaret Buerklin. A Celebration of his life will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Alice Hawes officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM Tuesday at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center at 917 Blondeau with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
