Bernard Eugene "Gene" Crowe, 75, of South Sioux City, NE passed away on Friday, August 8, 2014 at his residence, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, August 11, 2014 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, NE with Father Paul Albenesius officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE with military rites conducted by the South Sioux City American Legion. Visitation will begin at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 10, 2014, with the family present at 6:00 P.M. and a rosary service at 7:00 P.M. at Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE Bernard was born in rural Jackson, NE on May 25, 1939, the son of Raymond and Benetta (Gill) Crowe. He attended St. Michael's Elementary School in South Sioux City, NE and graduated from South Sioux City High School in 1957. He was a golden gloves champion in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army in the Tank Brigade in Lebanon and Germany from 1957 to 1959. s, Texas, where he started Richland Foods. They returned to South Sioux City in 1978 and were self-employed until their retirement in 1999. Saundra passed away on March 14, 2012 after 52 years of marriage. Gene was a member of the South Sioux City American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed raising and riding horses with his own children, and boating and skiing with his family. Survivors include his children, Toni (Steve) Cronin, Tracy (Joe) Keefer, Patrick (Lora) Crowe, 7 grandchildren, Erika (Brian) Arp, Ashley and Andrew Cronin, Kody and Karter Keefer, and Brandon and Kelly Crowe; 2 great-grandchildren, Beckett and Grady Arp; one sister, Mary Engel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Benetta Crowe; his wife, Saundra "Sally"; and 7siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the South Sioux City American Legion or St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson, NE.
