Joan "Jo" Clevenger

Joan "Jo" Clevenger, age 89 of Carlisle, Ohio died Thursday, August 28, 2014 at Hospice of Butler-Warren Counties. She was born February 18, 1925 in Portsmouth, Ohio the daughter of the late Leslie and Victoria (Hall) Lowe. Jo was a 1943 graduate of Lucasville High School and a graduate of Tri-State Beauty School in Portsmouth. Joan retired in 1989 from Carlisle Manor Nursing Home where she worked as a Nurses Assistant. She was baptized at and was a member of The Nazarene Church during her time in Portsmouth. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her first-husband, Harold Sloan, and their son Gary Sloan; second husband, Everett "Tom" Clevenger; and sister, Freda Rector. Joan is survived by her son, Everett "Rusty" Clevenger Jr. and wife Peggy of Plano, TX; daughter, Sandy Hoelscher, and husband Mike of Cypress, TX; grandson, Christopher Hoelscher, granddaughter, Jessica (Chad) Worthington; great-grandson, Kyle Kirkpatrick; two great-granddaughters, Addison and Anastasia Worthington; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
