James L. Nelson, 79, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Simpson Health Center.
A service honoring James' life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 15, at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in Minot, North Dakota. The visitation is from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
James is survived by his three sons, James P. (Lizann) Nelson and Jay Nelson, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Jeff (Kathy) Nelson, of Fort Dodge; six grandchildren, Marie, Michelle, Aidan, Chris, Nick and Cole; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Priscilla, his brother Paul and his parents.
James Loren Nelson, the son of Lloyd and Martha (Lysne) Nelson, was born March 4, 1935, in Lyman, Colorado. He was reared and educated in Minot, North Dakota where he graduated from high school. James then graduated from Stout State University in Menominee, Wisconsin. In 1955, James was united in marriage to Priscilla Stevick in Minot. He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France.
