Grace Katherine Decker

Grace Katherine Decker, 96, of Burlington died Sunday, October 25, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 28, 1913 in Burlington, she was the daughter of John Charles and Anna Marie Herzog Decker. Ms. Decker was a 1932 graduate of St. Paul's High School. She was a bookkeeper for Paule Jewelry for 37 years, retiring in 1979. She was a life-long member of SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church and Altar and Rosary Society. Ms. Decker was a friend to many. She loved to play cards and was a member of many card clubs during her life. She was a great cook and a hard worker. Survivors include one sister, Doris Sourwine of Littleton, Colorado; nine nieces and nephews, John (Beth) Decker of Forest Lake, Minnestoa, Donna (John) Decker Smith of St. Charles, Illinois, Mark Decker of Burlington, Mary Ann (Dan) Sourwine Rhode and Pat (David) Sourwine Thyfault both of Littleton, Colorado, Deborah Lambert of Bellingham, Washington, Kevin (Sandy) Decker and Melissa Decker both of Spokane, Washington and Cindy (Frank) Decker Bonnell of Vancouver, Washington; fourteen great nieces and nephews and nine great-great nieces and nephews She was preceded i...[more]

Friends may call from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1st, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends following the Rosary recitation at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Decker will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 2nd, in SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington. The Very Rev. David Steinle will be the celebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established for SS Mary and Patrick Catholic Church.
