Tony Lee Tinder

Tony Lee Tinder, 74, of Argyle, IA, passed away Friday morning, September 26, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Tony was born in Keokuk, IA on June 25, 1940, one of ten children, to Ora and Violet Bradley Tinder. He married Sharon Fry in 1961. He later married Sarah Sly on October 15, 1971 in Quincy Illinois. They were able to share nearly 43 years together. She survives. He worked for many years in maintenance at Foot Mineral and later Fruehauf until his retirement. He was a member of New Testament Church where he was also a member of Small Group. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid woodworker. He will be truly missed by his family. In addition to his wife, Tony is survived by his four daughters, Kimberly (Spencer) Jones and Andrea (Harvey) Turner, both of Keokuk, Julie Tinder of Milwaukee, WI, and Terri (Charles) Coleman of Sparta IL; two sons, Douglas Sly of Parrish, FL and Donald Sly (Dawn Johnson) of Argyle; two sisters, Sharon Sangster (James Clark) of Keokuk and Robin (Clarence) Holmes of Milwaukee, WI; three brothers, Paul (Ethel) Tinder of Mt. grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and aunts. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, David Sly, three sisters Dorothy, Marion, and Christina, and one brother, George. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the New Testament Church in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will follow in Keokuk National Cemetery. Visitation will be after 3 PM Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on 1212 Concert Street in Keokuk with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 PM. Memorials in his honor may be made to the New Testament Church in Keokuk.
