Robert Persinger

Retired Master Sergeant, Robert J. (Bob) Persinger, 51, of Alamogordo, NM, formerly of Ponca, NE passed away on September 24, 2014 in Pensacola, FL after a 2 ½ year battle with brain cancer. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Ponca, NE with Father Andrew L. Sohm officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in South Sioux City, NE. Visitation with the family present will begin at 6:00 P.M., with a rosary service at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Bob was born on November 21, 1962 in Onawa, IA, the son of Donald and Joyce (McPherson) Persinger. He married Becki Hall in 1984 and together they had two children, Justin and Kristie. Bob served his country for 23 years, 4 months, retiring as a Master Sergeant of the Air Force at Holloman A.F.B. in Alamogordo, NM. He is a veteran of Desert Storm and Iraqi Freedom. Survivors include his wife, Bobbi Jo of Pensacola, FL; a son, Justin (Amanda) Persinger of Ponca, NE; daughter, Kristie (Aaron) Steingiesser of the Netherlands; 5 grandchildren, Madison, Emalyn, Daniel, Silas and Amy; his parents, Don and Joyce Persinger of Sioux City, IA; brothers, Dean (Paula) of Lincoln, NE, Joel (Mindy) of Sioux City, IA, Patrick of Minnesota; sister, Donna Divis of Boxelder, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
