George Andrew Minster passed away peacefully on the morning of October 18, 2014 from natural causes at the age of 95. George was surrounded and comforted by family and friends at Hospice of Butler and Warren Counties in Franklin Ohio. George resided with his granddaughter, Margaret Phillips and her family in Liberty Township Ohio for the past 5 years. George was born in Ruffsdale PA on March 1st 1919. He was the son of Mary R. Minster and Earnest J. Minster. Like his brothers, Earnest (Ernie) and Robert (Bobby), George joined the US Army in April 1941 and later married, Margaret Elizabeth Griffin on September 1, 1942. George proudly served his country during World War 2 and participated in the liberation of several concentration camps in Europe. Upon receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, George began a career at Union Camp (later International Paper) where he quickly rose to a supervisory position and earned great respect and admiration from his peers, employees and upper management. ge's smile could light up a room, warm your heart or make you feel like the most important person in the Universe. George led a life to which most could only aspire and he did so with no regrets. George is preceeded in death by his wife of over 67 years, Margaret Elizabeth Minster and their only child, Mary ElizabethMinster, his brothers Ernie Minster and Bobby Minster and his sisters Dorothy Kachmar and Eleanor Deglman, his father Earnest Minster and his mother Mary Minster. George is survived by his Granddaughter Margaret Phillips and her husband Eddie Phillips of Liberty Township Ohio, his great grandchildren, Greg Phillips, Katherine Phillips and Robert Phillips of Liberty Township Ohio. In addition, George is survived by his Grandson John Blase of Savannah Georgia along with his great grandchildren Chase Blase and PriceBlase of Savannah Georgia. George was a righteous and Godly man. He was dearly loved and will be missed by everyone that knew him. Services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm Hillcrest Abbey cemetery in Savannah Georgia. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Butler/Warren Counties.
