Robert J. Appelbaum Sr., age 83, of Dayton, OH, died Friday October 24, 2014 at Hospice of Dayton. He was born July 10, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri to Leonard and Florence (Schulze) Appelbaum. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Richard Appelbaum. Robert was formerly a Salesman and Purchasing Manager for Copco Papers. He is survived by his two sons, Robert Jr. (Hope) Appelbaum, and Stephen (Jenny) Appelbaum; and his beloved and devoted, Bernadine Appelbaum and 6 grandchildren, Joshua Moore, Samantha (Maurice), Tony, Tim, Dani, Trey Appelbaum and great-grandson, Reece Hammock. Two brothers, Len (Maxine) Appelbaum, Bill (Karen) Appelbaum, Sister-in-law, Geraldine Appelbaum and many nephews and nieces.
Bob served in the US Air Force (1951-1955) in the air training command as a general instructor. He received a Honorable Discharge with the rank of A S/SGT in 1955.
Bob was very active in the Englewood/Northmont little league baseball and football programs serving as vice-president on several different occasions.
