Steven E. Mashek

Steven E. Mashek, 70, of Ponca, NE, formerly of Omaha, passed away on Monday, November 24, 2014 at the Elms Health Care Center in Ponca, NE. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Steven was born in Aberdeen, SD on July 1, 1944, the son of Elmer R. and Aloise (Bacon) Mashek. He graduated from Omaha North High School. He married Patricia Shum on November 16, 1962 in Omaha. They moved to Kearney, Nebraska in 1975 where he was employed at Platte Valley State Bank. They divorced in 1989. He later married Sherry Marvin and they resided in Omaha. He was a talented vocalist and his gift of music was enjoyed by many through the Church, Kearney Community Theater, The Company (vocal group) and most of all, by his family. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, exercise, movies, and his many pet dogs through the years. Survivors include Daughters, Christine Steinhauser and husband Dale of Kearney and Kathleen Fuehrer of Kearney, Son Jeffrey Mashek and his wife Janna of Gibbon, Grandchildren Siera, Daniel, Jake, Chelsea, Rachel, Elizabeth, Carlee and Zane, and great grandchildren Cash and Hendrix.
