Service working in Dubuque and Keystone, Iowa from 1970 until retiring in 2005 as Postmaster. Bob was of the Catholic faith. He was actively involved with veterans organizations including serving as a founding member of the VA Freedom Center where he was actively involved with Willy's Jeep Donation and Restoration, Dubuque Vietnam Memorial, Honor Flights and legion of other veteran based projects. He was a past commander of Chapter 6 DAV and held other offices, as well as a member of and had served on the board of directors of the Veterans Freedom Center, the We Care Foundation, Give a Lift to a Vet Foundation, and served as treasurer for the All The Way Home Veterans Conference. Bob was an avid sports fan who loved the Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. He enjoyed playing Euchre, cars, doing yard work, real estate, traveling, stock car races, and NASCAR with Jeff Gordon being his favorite driver. Those left to honor Bob's memory include his children Jacob Willey of Dubuque, IA, and Ami (Michael) O'Hara of Sykesville, MD; 2 grandchildren Cortni and Madelyn; his mother Frances Willey of Maquoketa, IA; brothers Jerry (Marie Shanahan) Willey of CO, and Jack (Marilyn) Willey of Maquoketa, IA; sisters Rose (Ralph) Heiring of Dubuque, IA, and Becky (Richard) Wiese of Andrew, IA; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, a brother Timothy, and a sister-in-law Connie Willey. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, a Robert C. "Bob" Willey memorial fund has been established.
