Joseph R. Makousky

Joseph R. Makousky, 76, of Ponca, NE passed away on Sunday, December 21, 2014 at a local nursing home. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE with Rev. Dr. Klaus Raab officiating and military rites conducted by the Ponca American Legion Post 117. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. with the family present at 12:00 on Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE. Joe was born on September 24, 1938 in Clarkson, NE to Joseph and Marie (Koci) Makousky. He graduated from Clarkson High School and earned his Bachelors Degree in teaching from Wayne State College. Joe served in the U.S. Army for two years. He was united in marriage to Linda Stark. To this union two sons, Jason and Thomas were born. Joe taught at a country school for two years, then as a social studies teacher at Ponca High School for thirty-five years. Those left to honor his memory include his sons, Jason and Thomas Makousky, both of Sioux City, IA; nephew, Don Cech of Howells, NE; nieces, Linda Cech of Dodge, NE and Jeanne (Terry) Scheuneman of Schuyler, NE; sister and brother-in-laws, Richard (Carmen) Stark of Martinsburg, NE, Sharon Scott of Waterbury, NE, Bill Stark of Sioux City, IA, Marge Stark of Hubbard, NE, and Charlie (Vickie) Stark of Americas, KS. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Marie Makousky; his ex-wife, Linda Makousky; sister and brother-in-law, Carol (Don) Cech; and brother, Richard Makousky.
