She enjoyed playing cards, belong to several bridge clubs, good jokes, reading and most of all, her family and friends. Vesta retired from the University of Iowa as an Administrative Assistant with the College of Nursing. Vesta is survived by her children; Craig W. Kern (Sandi) of Estes Park, Colorado, Gerri Scherer of Guttenberg, Iowa, Bruce Kern (Myrl Ann) of Mechanicsville, Iowa; grandchildren, Scott (Charlotte) Scherer, Sara (Dave) Wendt, Michael (Alisa) Kern, Daniel Kern, Zachary (Amanda) Kern, Darcie (Rob) Bahr, thirteen great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Pat Crispin and several nieces and nephews. Vesta was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Hank) Kern, three brothers, Carl Crispin, Max Crispin and Clyde Crispin, sister, Rosemyrta Heick.
